Art by Dangana

Welcome to our vibrant world of handmade batik African textile art, where tradition meets innovation. Rooted in the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria, our art pieces are crafted with passion and dedication by Alheri Bingi, an MBA graduate of the University of New Brunswick hailing from the bustling city of Lagos, Nigeria.

About Batik (The Creative Process)

Batik in Africa is a traditional fabric art form that involves wax-resist dyeing. Artisans use hot wax to create intricate designs on fabric, typically cotton. The fabric is then dyed, with the wax preserving the original color where applied. This process is repeated multiple times, with different colors and wax applications, to achieve vibrant and detailed patterns. Finally, the wax is removed through boiling or scraping, revealing the colorful design underneath. The result is beautiful, unique textiles with cultural significance across the continent.
